During February 2010, we will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. Now is the time to start researching the history of Scouting in your area. This web site provides some research hints to help you in your search of this history. It is not hard to do and the results are gratifying. Just click HERE to go to the web page.
We have added a special section on THE FIRST SCOUT TROOPS IN TEXAS as our contribution to the Centennial Celebration of the Boy Scouts of America. Help us add to this special section by your contribution. And HERE are some things your unit can do to celebrate the Centennial.
In over 500 pages of this web site, you will find some of the history of Scouting here in West Texas. This includes the former Chisholm Trail Council and Comanche Valley Council, and current Buffalo Trail Council, Concho Valley Council, South Plains Council and Texas Trails Council.
The first troops
in this part of the United States of America chartered directly
with the National Council, BSA, as local councils
were not organized in West Texas until the 1920's. This
